Google vs Microsoft Continues
(Usama Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
Last week Google surpassed the
Microsoft’s market value, after than Google because the second more valuable
company of the world. A great competition is going on between the two greats.
The Mannheim Regional Court on Friday rules that Google Inc’s Motorola Mobility
Holding Inc division does not infringe on a patent held by Microsoft.
The lawsuit concerned a radio interface patent, which make the use of many
applications easier for consumers. Microsoft though can appeal the decision.
“Microsoft, remember has already won three injunctions against Motorola out of
which two has already been enforced”, said by David Howard, Microsoft’s
Corporate Vice President. He also said that the decision however would not
affect the injunctions.
“Motorola is largely infringing Microsoft intellectual property and we hope that
vast number of Android device makers will join by licensing Microsoft’s
patents.” said by Mr Howard on Friday.
This intellectual property often takes years and millions of dollars to develop,
and therefore it is very important to take serious actions to protect them and
to go for legal actions if necessary. Remember we have seen Apple claiming and
wining against Samsung in the late August. Similarly this time Motorola and
Microsoft has filled patent infringement suits against each other in Germany and
also in United States.
Let’s see what will be the result of this case and most importantly if Microsoft
will go for appeal.
