Hollywood glorifies the
negative aspects of society and demeans the positive. The truth lies somewhere
in the middle of these two premises. Hollywood draws on both the good and bad
Aspects of reality but often casts the bad as good and the good as foolish. But
does this portrayal have a negative effect on society?
Research has demonstrated that exposure to smoking in films encourage you or
give you a thought to give smoking a try, whether it be “just a few puffs” or
experimenting with a pack over a period of time. Looking at which factors
influence kids to experiment with cigarette smoking is important because
approximately one third of those who try smoking become addicted.
Research has also shown that there are a number of factors that influence teens
to experiment with smoking, such as having friends who smoke and most of the
times youngsters are greatly influenced by movies they watch, watching their
favorite hero smoking and having drugs they also get inspired and give it a try
and slowly slowly this become a habit."
As compared to the teenagers adults have a mature mind and they know what is
good and what is bad they don’t get influenced by movies like youngsters do.
They can easily control themselves. Movies that portray inappropriate or
dangerous behavior in a world without realistic consequences often have less
effect on adult viewers, but children, teens, and young adults are very
impressionable. Most adults understand the consequences of actions and can
distinguish Hollywood's fiction from life's reality. Younger viewers, however,
are often less discerning.
Hollywood often portrays wrong and dangerous behavior as positive. Children
believe what they watch, and lives are often scarred or ruined. When a young
person repeatedly sees party scenes where alcohol and drug abuse is rendered
normal and fun, he or she will likely learn the ugly truth via experimentation
or firsthand exposure. Addiction rarely needs a second opportunity. Tobacco is
one of the major causes of deaths and disease in the world.
Young people are especially influenced by smoking in movies because the teen
years are often a period of searching for identity and forming a self-concept.
It is easy to notice how peer groups and entertainment can influence what
clothes teens wear, how they style their hair, and how they talk. Young people
form identities by adopting the behavior of peers, parents, and people they look
up to. Research has found that the smoking behavior of a teen’s favorite movie
star can influence whether or not someone tries smoking.
Smoking in movies by key characters is often seen as glamorous, tough,
rebellious, and independent—all images that are attractive and positive to many
teens. As teens create their own identities, they might want to include these
desirable traits. Unfortunately, a majority of the time, media portrayals do not
include information about negative health or social consequences.
Movies shows the bad side of the society killing, smoking, drugs addiction
living a life like a criminal etc these things influence youngsters to do the
same thing but it’s not as easy as shown in the movies. Movies often play with
our minds and some where we are affected by it. Sometimes movies become source
of inspiration and young people do what the hero do in the movies. But on the
same time we must remember that is just one side of the story life is not as
simple and easy as shown in the movies robbery is not as easy as shown in ha
Hollywood movie, or taking drugs is not a pleasant activity as shown in movies
for a while you feel like you are on the top of the world but it’s the sign of
death.
