Why Hijab?

(Ramsha Altaf, Karachi)

Hijab is not just about covering our heads with scarf it's all about sacrificing and not to expose your beauty to any person you're unfamiliar with. Hijab is not about covering private parts and this not only bound women but men are also bounded by it. Hijab is also of keeping your sight in control whenever conservation with a stranger if one does not take care of it then he or she can no longer be considered as a prudent and honorable Muslim as explained in the book of Allah.

Men, whether they confess or not, are slaves of lust and desire. Hijab protects women from such men; it symbolizes that she has been sanctified to one man and is off limit to all other. I am surprised at the western society which shows affection and tolerance towards those who would like to go around topless but intolerant of a woman wearing hijab. Hijab had never been an obstacle in any field it gain respect to a women it clarifies the religion of a Muslim lady.

One of the most important events in the early history of Islam was the event of karbala where women stood side by side to their husbands. It was Husain's (R. A) Sister, Zainab who continued the social protest and was very influential in bringing about the awakening among the people against the rulers that eventually brought about the downfall of Umayyad.

There's no discrimination in Islam by gender. The biggest example is that men and women are side by side together during pilgrimage and women's are commanded to open their faces during hajj.

That's how hijab is shown beautifully in Islam. It narrates the actual beauty and innocence if a woman but nowadays hijab has also been triggered by the name of fashion hijab has changed in too many different shapes but simplicity is above all its better to keep it as simple as it is…
