The insanity of humanity

(Rabia Waqar, karachi)

Humans are known to be a social animal. Has anyone noticed why the word social is added to the animal? The answer is humans have to live with other people. Whether they like it or not, they cannot live in isolation. But when the humans act against the social norms, values and responsibility, the only word “animals” is much more suitable for them.

Anthony Douglas Williams, a Canadian researcher and writer once wrote in his book “Inside the Divine Pattern”,

“There are more dangerous humans on earth than dangerous animals”.

It is hard to accept, but this is a reality that humans are acting like only wild animals these days. There are number of examples I can quote here but let’s highlight the recent one. The social media is already rising up the issue of a woman, who had an accident on Friday 25th of August 2017. She was jogging on main sea view road. A speedy car came and hit her while she was on her way back to home. The car driver, with no surprise hit her and ran away. This is the first example which is a proof of humans losing their social responsibilities.

Someone with still some humanity in him rushed with the lady to the nearest hospital. By the time, her mobile phone was already stolen, another example of cruelty and wilderness. When the person reached to the hospital, I don’t know whether to mention the name or not but yes it was a private hospital, the hospital staff refused to treat the lady because they want prior payment. The worst part is, the lady was in a critical situation and I hope doctors are meant to save the patient not to kill. So, the ill-fated lady passed away in the hands of heartless people who call themselves as Doctors.

She had three children. What do they think about their mother’s death? The problem is not only the loss this family has faced, but the issue is, the children of the family have lost the faith in humanity. What will be their views about the society, about Pakistan and Pakistanis? No one cares about others lives and their losses. So, in my opinion, the word social for animals like these is no more realistic. This situation is an eye opener for all of us. It shows that where we are as a nation heading towards and what are our intentions towards others. We need to improve our mindsets and it should be done on current basis before it is too late.
