What is DOT?
DOT, short for Polkadot, is a software that seeks to incentivize an ecumenical network of computers to operate a blockchain on top of which users can launch and operate their blockchains.
In this way, Polkadot is one of several competing blockchains aiming to grow an ecosystem of crypto currencies, other eminent examples of which include Ethereum (ETH), Cosmos (ATOM), and EOSIO (EOS).
