Narrated Abu Musa: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Indeed Allah Blessed and Most High gives respite (Yumli) and perhaps he said: (Yumhil) respite to the wrong-doer until, when He seizes him, and he cannot escape. Then he recited the Ayah: Such is the punishment of your Lord when He seizes the towns while they are doing wrong (11:102).

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يُمْلِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يُمْهِلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لِلظَّالِمِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَخَذَهُ لَمْ يُفْلِتْهُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ وَكَذَلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَى وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ سورة هود آية 102 الْآيَةَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ بُرَيْدٍ نَحْوَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يُمْلِي.

ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”بیشک اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ ظالم کو مہلت دیتا ہے مگر جب اسے گرفت میں لے لیتا ہے پھر تو اسے چھوڑتا بھی نہیں“، پھر آپ نے آیت «وكذلك أخذ ربك إذا أخذ القرى وهي ظالمة» ”ایسی ہی ہے تیرے رب کی پکڑ جب وہ کسی ظالم بستی والے کو پکڑتا ہے تو اس کی پکڑ بڑی سخت، درد ناک ہوتی ہے“ ( ہود: ۱۰۲ ) ، تلاوت فرمائی۔ ( راوی ابومعاویہ نے کبھی «یملی» کہا اور کبھی «یمہل» دونوں کا معنی ایک ہے ) ۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح غریب ہے، ۲- ابواسامہ نے بھی اسے برید سے اسی طرح روایت کیا ہے، اور «یُملی» کا لفظ استعمال کیا ہے۔
