It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There is no Ruqba. Whoever is given a gift on the basis of Ruqba, it belongs to him, whether he lives or dies.”

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا رُقْبَى فَمَنْ أُرْقِبَ شَيْئًا فَهُوَ لَهُ حَيَاتَهُ وَمَمَاتَهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَالرُّقْبَى أَنْ يَقُولَ هُوَ لِلْآخَرِ مِنِّي وَمِنْكَ مَوْتًا.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: رقبیٰ کوئی چیز نہیں ہے جس کو بطور رقبیٰ کوئی چیز دی گئی تو وہ اسی کی ہو گی اس کی زندگی اور موت دونوں حالتوں میں راوی کہتے ہیں: رقبیٰ یہ ہے کہ ایک شخص کسی کو کوئی چیز دے کر یہ کہے کہ ہم اور تم میں سے جو آخر میں مرے گا یہ اس کی ہو گی۔
