Karachi needs help

Karachi is known as the city of Quaid, economic hub of Pakistan and the city of lights but it is going through dark times firstly due to crimes and now due to garbage. This city feed millions but nobody is ready for its ownership. We have mutually turned this city of lights into city of garbage but at the time of cleaning, we shift blames. This negligence is resulting into floods, diseases and deaths. According to a report, there is an outburst of stomach infections, skin allergies, eye infections and throat diseases etc. in Karachi. People do not want to live in garbage but are adding to it by littering the streets and authorities are ignorant while politicians are doing politics over garbage. Few of them tried but failed to meet the deadlines. Being the citizen of Karachi why are we not taking this issue personally. Karachi is producing more than 13500 tons of municipal waste daily, which resulted in more than 20 deaths due to heavy rains and poor sewerage system. Improper dumping and disposal of waste like burning of waste as well as usage of plastic are also adding to the pollution. Karachi is listed among 10 worst cities in the world to live. Beaches of Karachi are in miserable condition and are not good for picnics anymore. Wasim Akram’s wife Shaniera Akram also complained about the beaches. Authorities took immediate action and cleaned the Clifton beach. We as citizen of Karachi should play our role toward its cleaning. Public should not add to the garbage, government should support authorities by funding them while authorities should also dispose of garbage properly. Modern ways of disposal and waste recycle should be explored. Plastic should be banned and eco friendly products should be used so that this city can get back its charm and lights.
