Mini Buses Start To Fix TVs And DVDs
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
Previously various people had
TVs and DVDs installed in their cars and they were entertained, watching videos
or songs during their journey. The trend to install TVs and DVDs has further
started to take place in coaches and mini buses. Various buses running on
various roads in Karachi are found providing entertainment to commuters these
days.
Recently I happened to travel in the same buses other days. As I got on the
buses and held seats, the loud music started and I saw that a TV along with DVD
was installed beside the drivers’ seats whereas women were sitting near the TVs
in the buses. The condemnable thing I found in all the buses was that the
immoral video songs were played on the DVDs whereas various commuters were
sitting and few were standing in women’s compartment. The women were totally
ashamed sitting in the compartment and men were enjoying the immoral video
songs.
On the other hand, the drivers of the mini buses were driving fast that could
cause severe mishaps and the results of the mishaps could be in the shape of
loss of lives and severe injuries as drivers were enjoying the songs as well.
The situation compelled me to think who permitted the owners of the buses to
have TVs and DVDs installed in their buses and who asked them to provide
entertainment to the commuters? Previously many accidents have taken place in
the country due to tap recorders and resultantly, the use of tap recorders in
the buses was restricted and those who were found using the tap recorders were
charged fine. But now, not only tap recorders but also TVs and DVDs are being
embellished in the buses and this is a very critical situation according to me.
Apart from this, the mini buses are already in dilapidated condition and the
government officials allow the owners of the buses to run their buses but the
owners of the buses pay bribe to the officials so that their buses could be
allowed to run on the roads. In addition, the conductors of the buses fill more
people than the space available in the buses owing to which accidents are
getting usual and people are losing their lives.
In this regard, the government should seriously and strictly take immediate and
stern action against those who are involved in permitting old and ruined buses
to run. Besides, the TVs and DVDs be removed from the buses taking precautionary
measures in view of any mishaps.
