Though my country has been
facing terrorism for a long time, yet the present incident at Liberty Chowk,
Lahore is a very tragic event of its type. Some armed persons open fire at the
vehicle carrying Sri Lankan team from hotel to the stadium for a test match,
under the custody of police squad. Sports have been included in the range of the
terrorists/plan makers. Many have been martyred and injured. Some countries were
cautious, rather afraid to visit Pakistan. These were the Sri Lankans who took
the risk and in response got some injuries and a lot of tension as well.
Which country will now agree to send its team to our country? It will take a
long term of peace period for all this: but it seems impossible in the present
adverse circumstances here. The liberty to enjoy the game by all types of people
has been too indulged in the framework of conspiracy.
Sad, no doubt very sad. A
senior ex-military official was blaming the Indian hands in this incident on TV.
He may be right, but the question is, when our country will become a peaceful
territory and a symbol of peace, tolerance and success for the entire world.
