عمرِ رواں کٹی مری سود و زیاں کےساتھ
اب آئینے کے روبرو چہرہ میں کیا کروں
جب زندگی کی دھول ہو اجڑے سماں کےساتھ
آنکھوں سے اپنے پیار کو کر لیں شکار ہم
اب بھی تو ایک تیر ہے وشمہ کماں کےساتھ
فراق کا شروع سلسلہ نہ کرنا
قوانین عشق میں پہلا قانون یہ ہے
درد سہنا مگر گلہ نہ کرنا
ہجر لشکر کہی ہزار ہیں پیچھے
رفتارِ محبت صنم آہستہ نہ کرنا
جو چاہے کرنا مگر خیال رکھنا
یقین توٹے کچھ ایسا نہ کرنا
دورِ جدید کا پہلا سبق یہ ہے
کبھی دشمن کا بھلا نہ کرنا
مجھے دیکھنے دو نظارائے حُسن
خدا کا واسطہ منع نہ کرنا
نہال درد لکھو تُم ضرور لکھو
مگر محفلوں میں پڑھا نہ کرنا
ہم لوگ جب ملیں تو کوئی دوسرا بھی ہو
تو جانتا نہیں میری چاہت عجیب ہے
مجھ کو منا رہا کبھی خود خفا بھی ہو
تو بے وفا نہیں ہے مگر بے وفائی کر
اس کی نظر میں رہنے کا کچھ سلسلہ بھی ہو
پت جھڑ کے ٹوٹتے ہوئے پتوں کے ساتھ ساتھ
موسم کبھی تو بدلے گا یہ آسرا بھی ہو
چُپ چاپ اس کو بیٹھ کے دیکھوں تمام رات
جاگا ہوا بھی ہو کوئی سویا ہوا بھی ہو
اس کے لئے تو میں نے یہاں تک دُعائیں کیں
میری طرح سے اُسے کوئی چاہتا بھی ہو
