Petroleum levy receivables projected to hit Rs1,311 billion

Petroleum development levy (PDL) is all set to the record high of Rs1,311 billion mark after adding an additional amount of Rs194 billion during next fiscal year 2025-26 as compared to the current fiscal year 2024-25.

According to a report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government is estimated to receive Rs1,117 billion under the head of petroleum development levy during current fiscal year of 2025.

From July 2024 to March 2025, the government had received Rs833.87 billion as petroleum development levy.

The report further stated that during fiscal year 2023-24, the government had received Rs1,019 billion as petroleum development levy.

During fiscal year 2022-23 Rs580 billion were received as petroleum development levy.

Currently, Rs78.02 are being received under the head of petroleum development levy on per-litre price of petrol and Rs77.01 on high-speed diesel (HSD).
