Surah Al-Kahf Importance - Why Read Surah Al-Kahf Every Friday?

For many families, Friday does not feel complete without Surah Kahf. Its virtue is mentioned in Hadith which is why Muslims read it every week:

• A light that lasts the week: The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have light shining for them until the next Friday.
• Protection from the Dajjal: Sahih Muslim mentions memorizing the first 10 verses as protection from the Dajjal. Another narration mentions the last 10 verses.
• A reminder about this world: The stories repeat one message again and again: wealth, power and status do not last forever.

The 4 Stories in Surah Kahf

This surah has four separate stories and each one has its own lesson:

• The People of the Cave (Ashab-e-Kahf): A group of young men ran from a cruel king to protect their faith. Allah made them sleep in a cave for 309 years.
• The Man With Two Gardens: A rich man was so proud of his gardens that he lost everything in one night.
• Musa (AS) and Khidr (AS): A lesson that Allah’s wisdom is often understood only much later.
• Dhul-Qarnayn: A just ruler who built a great barrier to hold back Yajuj and Majuj.
