Aga Khan Medical College established in 1983, the Aga Khan University Medical College offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Its curricular objectives include clinical competence both in community settings and hospitals, as well as the assessment of health and prevention of disease in communities through the primary health care programs that AKU monitors in a number of urban squatter settlements. Aga Khan Medical College enrolls students in a five-year program leading to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. It has to date conferred 1,370 degrees. The curriculum of Aga Khan University Medical College (AKU-MC) emphasises both high quality medical care for patients with complex multiple pathology and community based primary care. Students acquire experience of clinical care in Aga Khan University Hospital and of primary care in Karachi's poorest neighborhoods. |
