اچھا تمہارے شہر کا دستور ہو گیا
جس کو گلے لگا لیا وہ دور ہو گیا
کاغذ میں دب کے مر گئے کیڑے کتاب کے
دیوانہ بے پڑھے لکھے مشہور ہو گیا
محلوں میں ہم نے کتنے ستارے سجا دیئے
لیکن زمیں سے چاند بہت دور ہو گیا
تنہائیوں نے توڑ دی ہم دونوں کی انا
آئینہ بات کرنے پہ مجبور ہو گیا
دادی سے کہنا اس کی کہانی سنائیے
جو بادشاہ عشق میں مزدور ہو گیا
صبح وصال پوچھ رہی ہے عجب سوال
وہ پاس آ گیا کہ بہت دور ہو گیا
کچھ پھل ضرور آئیں گے روٹی کے پیڑ میں
جس دن مرا مطالبہ منظور ہو گیا
