تا عمر ہم تو وقت کے گرداب میں رہے
مطلب تو پھر بھی یہی ہوا عذاب میں رہے
جب تو نہیں تو تیرا تجسس بھی ہے بیکار
پھر بھی تیری طلب دل بے تاب میں رہے
پھر کیسےاس کی تعریف ہو بیان
جس کا چہرہ ہی حجاب میں رہے
حکمت کا تقاضا کہ میں اس کو بھی سمجھوں
جو قطرہ چھپ کے پارہ سیماب میں رہے
نہ جانے کب وہ آئیں گے اب تک تو آئے
کب تک یہ سر جھکا ہوا آداب میں رہے
ہم نے تو دل کا حال کہا ان سے اور وہ
خاموش اس سوال کے جواب میں رہے
