جلا دیا شجر جاں کہ سبز بخت نہ تھا
کسی بھی رت میں ہرا ہو یہ وہ درخت نہ تھا
وہ خواب دیکھا تھا شہزادیوں نے پچھلے پہر
پھر اس کے بعد مقدر میں تاج و تخت نہ تھا
ذرا سے جبر سے میں بھی تو ٹوٹ سکتی تھی
مری طرح سے طبیعت کا وہ بھی سخت نہ تھا
مرے لیے تو وہ خنجر بھی پھول بن کے اٹھا
زبان سخت تھی لہجہ کبھی کرخت نہ تھا
اندھیری راتوں کے تنہا مسافروں کے لیے
دیا جلاتا ہوا کوئی ساز و رخت نہ تھا
گئے وہ دن کہ مجھی تک تھا میرا دکھ محدود
خبر کے جیسا یہ افسانہ لخت لخت نہ تھا
