کمالِ حسن اگر موقوفِ اندازِ تغافل ہو
تکلف برطرف‘ تجھ سے تری تصویر بہتر ہے
زندانِ تحمل میں مہمانِ تغافل ہیں
بے فائدہ یاروں کو فرقِ غم و شادی ہے
شعر کی فکر کو اسدؔ! چاہیے ہے دل و دماغ
واے! کہ یہ فسردہ دل‘ بے دل و بے دماغ ہے
دل تو ہو‘ اچھا‘ نہیں ہے گر دماغ
کچھ تو اسبابِ تمنا چاہیے
عبرت طلب ہے حَلِ معماے آگہی
شبنم‘ گداز آئنۂ اعتبار ہے
روز اس شہر میں اک حکم نیا ہوتا ہے
