Sarvat Husain Poetry – Sarvat Husain was a nineteenth century poet who was born in Karachi on November 9 1949. He was creative and exhibited excellence in composing poetry. But creativity has a price and every creator needs to pay it. The poet who roughly and proudly shuffled words to form surprisingly awesome poetry, the poet of Urdu and Punjabi language, the marvelous Sarvat Husain took his own life after attempting suicide twice in his lifetime.

do hī chīzeñ is dhartī meñ dekhne vaalī haiñ

After being separated from beloved, Sarvat drained with illness and ended up by taking his own life in front of a train. Sarvat’s love for the beloved was intense and kept him indulged in longing for her.

isī jazīra-e-jā-e-namāz par 'sarvat'
zamāna ho gayā dast-e-duā buland kiye

It is correct that creativity has a price; everything indeed in the universe has a price. Be it love, creativity, power, authority, fortune, or anything which makes us extra ordinary; demands something extra ordinary from us to endure. But how we respond to the situation is surely and undoubtedly our own decision. We cannot choose how we feel but we can always, always choose how to behave. Either we show resilience or we show defeat.

Sarwat Hussain taught Urdu literature at various government colleges. Sarvat Hussain Kalaam control over Urdu language and ability to express his emotions delicately and clearly made him one of the distinguished poet of his time. He gained fame among the new wave of authors and poets of Urdu Language in Pakistan.

husn-e-bahār mujh ko mukammal nahīñ lagā
maiñ ne tarāsh lī hai ḳhizāñ apne haath se

He was brilliant at expressing emotion and thoughts in poetic composition. Two collections of sarwat hussain ghazals work have been published so far, Aadhe sayyare par (1987) and Khakdaan which was published posthumously after his tragic end in a fatal train accident.
