سوچنا روح میں کانٹے سے بچھائے رکھنا
یہ بھی کیا سانس کی تلوار بنائے رکھنا
اب تو یہ رسم ہے خوشبو کے قصیدے پڑھنا
پھول گلدان میں کاغذ کے سجائے رکھنا
تیرگی ٹوٹ پڑے بھی تو برا مت کہیو
ہو سکے گر تو چراغوں کو جلائے رکھنا
راہ میں بھیڑ بھی پڑتی ہے ابھی سے سن لو
ہاتھ سے ہاتھ ملا ہے تو ملائے رکھنا
کتنا آسان ہے تائید کی خو کر لینا
کتنا دشوار ہے اپنی کوئی رائے رکھنا
کوئی تخلیق بھی تکمیل نہ پائے مری
نظم لکھ لوں تو مجھے نام نہ آئے رکھنا
اپنی پرچھائیں سے منہ موڑ نہ لینا انورؔ
تم اسے آج بھی باتوں میں لگائے رکھنا
