پیڑ کو دیمک لگ جائے یا آدم زاد کو غم
دونوں ہی کو امجد ہم نے بچتے دیکھا کم
تاریکی کے ہاتھ پہ بیعت کرنے والوں کا
سُورج کی بس ایک کِرن سے گھُٹ جاتا ہے دَم
رنگوں کو کلیوں میں جینا کون سکھاتا ہے!
شبنم کیسے رُکنا سیکھی! تِتلی کیسے رَم!
آنکھوں میں یہ پَلنے والے خواب نہ بجھنے پائیں
دل کے چاند چراغ کی دیکھو‘ لَو نہ ہو مدّھم
ہنس پڑتا ہے بہت زیادہ غم میں بھی انساں
بہت خوشی سے بھی تو آنکھیں ہو جاتی ہیں نم
