یہ شہر بے مثال تجھے دیکھ کر ہوا
اپنے خلاف شہر کے اندھے ہجوم میں
دل کو بہت ملال تجھے دیکھ کر ہوا
طول شب فراق تری خیر ہو کہ دل
آمادۂ وصال تجھے دیکھ کر ہوا
یہ ہم ہی جانتے ہیں جدائی کے موڑ پر
اس دل کا جو بھی حال تجھے دیکھ کر ہوا
آئی نہ تھی کبھی مرے لفظوں میں روشنی
اور مجھ سے یہ کمال تجھے دیکھ کر ہوا
بچھڑے تو جیسے ذہن معطل سا ہو گیا
شہر سخن بحال تجھے دیکھ کر ہوا
پھر لوگ آ گئے مرا ماضی کریدنے
