Iqbal Azeem Poetry in Urdu

Iqbal Azeem Poetry - Iqbal Azeem was born in Meerat, India in 1913. He gained his basic education from Agra. After partition, he moved to Pakistan. Iqbal Azeem has contributed prominently for literature and left gems of Shayari in the lavish towers of Poetry, Literature and Art. The two remarkable Poetry Collections by Iqbal Azeem are “Mizrab” and “Lav Kash”. Iqbal Azeem grew up in Lucknow and Odh cities, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts from Lucknow University in 1934. From there he moved on to Agra University to achieve his Master of Arts in 1943. Serving 20 years as a teacher by profession, He also continued his pen to compose poetry which he initiated at young age. Wrote he,

jis meñ na koī rañg na āhañg na ḳhushbū
tum aise gulistāñ ko jalā kyuuñ nahīñ dete

He wrote for beloved and on subjects of love, injustice and sorrow yet Iqbal did not forget to move his pen like raging ocean when the subject came to, self-reflection and personality morals.

jhuk kar salām karne meñ kyā harj hai magar
sar itnā mat jhukāo ki dastār gir paḌe

haath phailā.ūñ maiñ īsā-nafasoñ ke aage
dard pahlū meñ mire hai magar itnā bhī nahīñ

Iqbal Azeem’s poetry has melody in which reader gets immersed. Extracting precise meaning from his qamal-e-qalam is challenging. He was a professor by profession, but his main interest remained writing Nazams, Gazals and Poetries. Iqbal Azeem has also written Naats and tried different aspects of writing. He wrote 'Mashraqi Bengal Me Urdu' which is a critic on Urdu language evolution in Bengal.
