گنتی کے لوگ جانے پہچانے رہ گئے ہیں
کل جن حقیقتوں سے ماحول معتبر تھا
آج ان حقیقتوں کے افسانے رہ گئے ہیں
اب غارت چمن میں کیا رہ گیا ہے باقی
کچھ پیرہن دریدہ دیوانے رہ گئے ہیں
تاریخ عہد رفتہ بالاختصار یہ ہے
گلشن جہاں جہاں تھے ویرانے رہ گئے ہیں
اقبالؔ ڈھونڈھتے ہو تم جن کو محفلوں میں
ان کی جگہ اب ان کے افسانے رہ گئے ہیں
