میرے اس دیدۂ خوں ناب کے پیچھے پیچھے
ایک بے خوابی ہے اس خواب کے پیچھے پیچھے
عمر بھر چین نہیں پاتے ہیں وہ لوگ کہ جو
بھاگتے رہتے ہیں اسباب کے پیچھے پیچھے
دل بھی اشکوں کے تعاقب میں بہا جاتا ہے
ایک صحرا سا ہے سیلاب کے پیچھے پیچھے
کچھ تو تا عمر رہے کسب ہنر میں مصروف
اور کچھ تمغہ و القاب کے پیچھے پیچھے
جس کی تکمیل پہ آنکھیں بھی گئیں دل بھی گیا
عمر گزری تھی اسی خواب کے پیچھے پیچھے
ان پہ زنداں کی فصیلوں کو بھی پیار آتا ہے
جو چلے آتے ہیں احباب کے پیچھے پیچھے
ہم تو اس درجہ ترے نام کے دیوانے ہیں
جیسے دوڑے کوئی سرخاب کے پیچھے پیچھے
