پھر مجھے دیدہٴ تر یاد آیا
دم لیا تھا نہ قیامت نے ہنوز
سادگی ہائے تمنا، یعنی
عذر واماندگی، اے حسرتِ دل!
زندگی یوں بھی گزر ہی جاتی
کیا ہی رضواں سے لڑائی ہوگی
آہ وہ جرأت فریاد کہاں
پھر تیرے کوچے کو جاتا ہے خیال
کوئی ویرانی سی ویرانی ہے
دل، جگر تشنہٴ فریاد آیا
پھر ترا وقتِ سفر یاد آیا
پھر وہ نیرنگِ نظر ياد آیا
نالہ کرتا تھا، جگر یاد آیا
کیوں ترا راھگزر یاد آیا
گھر ترا خلد میں گر یاد آیا
دل سے تنگ آکے جگر یاد آیا
دلِ گم گشتہ، مگر، یاد آیا
دشت کو دیکھ کے گھر یاد آیا
میں نے مجنوں پہ لڑکپن میں اسد
