Waiting

Poet: Mubina By: Mubina, Lahore

While waiting for waves
the calm sways were ignored
the pretty seashells were spoiled
the soft sand was berated

While waiting for kindness
the soft words were taunted
the healing scars were demeaned
the quiet smiles were erased

While waiting for shelter
the weak ropes were broken
the mellow tents were destroyed
the soft stones were melted

While waiting for peace
the white paths were avoided
the growing roots were removed
the wise hands were refused

While waiting for boats
the tall trees were ignored
the wooden rafts were wrecked
the sand house was berated
