Where Is My Kashmir?

Poet: Anjan Bilal By: Anjan Bilal, Srinagar (J&K)

Where is my beloved land?
Who snatched its happiness?
Who destroyed its beauty?
Who burned its Charmness?
Where is my Kashmir?
From the hose of water,
Birds are coming with pain,
Swarming ducks are running fast,
As someone disturbed their tranquility,
Even the Dal is now deserted.
Where is my Kashmir?
Its atmosphere turned black,
Its air smells sour; of bullets & tear gases,
Land turned into burial places,
No space left to roam freely,
Desiccated fallen Chinar leaves,
divulges as if someone destroyed their greenery.
Where is my Kashmir?
Invaded mountains,
Occupied fields,
Deforested places,
Nature seems crying wearing widow-gadgets,
No more Jannat-i-Benazir,
A hell turned land.
Where is my Kashmir?
Birds don’t prefer to come out of their nests,
The giggle of flowers somewhere lost,
Colorless morning looks like an ugly bride,
Sky is occupied with the noise of bullets,
Terror, silence & cries all around.
Where is my Kashmir?
Silence is wondering everywhere,
Blood is flowing like streams of water,
Every kindergarten is crying to –“Go Out”
‘Disappeared’ and ‘conflict’ is the rhymes on their mouth.
Where is my Kashmir?
Mothers for Sons and Sisters for brothers; are waiting to arrive,
Kids for their fathers and wives for their husbands,
But no one came back.
Disappeared, tortured, and killed they were all.
Where is my Kashmir?
Besides the noise of crackers,
There is noise of cries,
Happiness is gone,
Sorrows have occupied us,
Peace has gone,
War has over headed us,
Love has gone.
Where is my Kashmir?
Every single thing harbors sadness,
Every step precedes & succeeds with agonies of victims,
Books ended,
Pens got dried,
Tears faded,
But still, Pain didn’t stop.
Where is my Kashmir?
Where is my beloved land?
