Narazgi Poetry

Narazgi poetry, or narazgi shayari, is a very rich expression of hurt, dissatisfaction, and ambiguity in Urdu fiction. Narazgi poetry captures the reading of unexpressed complaints, unheeded promises, and the emptiness of a heart, however physically present - the emotion of love, complete with emotional comorbidity. Narazgi poetry beautifully describes life's situations when one feels afflicted by betrayal and neglect, and when one believes your thoughts and words have gone unheard, then life, in general, things just seem ordinary.

Narazgi poetry speaks of, while not shouting, hurt, disappointment, longing, and suffering with delicate yet sad words. The essence of poetry is the way it turns something heavy into something light, in the delicacy of wordplay that has depth and meaning. Although narazgi poetry in Urdu expresses frustration in love, friendship, and life's suffering, it also pours into two-sided silence shared on one side that exposes the suffering.

In narazgi poetry, the speaker seems to be sharing their hurt (and sometimes restrained anger) by calling out to the beloved and the world. Each line tinges the conversation with pain, as if the speaker is caught between love and hate, longing and loss. Lines like "Tum se naraz nahin zindagi, hairaan hoon main" reveal the conflict of not being angry but, rather, overbought and experiencing a duality of consequences with the relationship; the heart is not only angry, but is utterly bewildered by the borders of possibility and impasse. The pain is not pronouncing itself as loud or aggressive, but quiet, contemplative, and deeply substantive.

Sad poetry touches my heart deeply; it feels like it speaks the pain I can’t express in words.

Muskurahat ke peeche chhupi hai udaasi, Har khushi mein mehsoos hoti hai khaali khaali si pyaasi. Jo apne the, wahi chhod gaye tanha, Zindagi ban gayi ek adhoori kahani.
