Railway Mayhem

Poet: Rayan Ikram By: Rayan Ikram, Karachi

I was spray painting an old train
And suddenly it started to rain
I looked down and saw
My efforts going down the drain

I sat on the corner
Thinking of how to start again
Then suddenly my eyes stopped
A few steps ahead of the drain

There were people doing a suspicious act
I tried to reach closer to them
Pretending to be invisible to them
Oh no! They were trying to break the other track

I wondered why such an act
Tried to figure out the fact
Then heard them say
They want to rob the train carrying precious artifacts

I was shocked to hear
Trembling with fear
Thought of figuring out a plan
To stop this robbery and catch the thief clan
I went back to a safe spot
Switched the train track
The train was coming in full speed
Smoothly passed by, ignoring the broken track

The robbers were furious
Their plan got screwed
I was jumping with joy
Like a cool dude

Hearing my foot pound
They came rushing towards me
With their revolvers and knives pointing at me
I was screaming: Oh God! Help me!

I was running in full speed
Trying to save my life
Not a single soul near me
The robber grabbed my neck and held a knife

Before the knife touched me
I woke up in the wink of an eye
My mother was shaking me to wake up
And to the thieves I said, ‘Bye Bye’
